Adjusting in Fortaleza

I wanted to relay a few of the most impacting experiences of personally adjusting more than 1000 people in five days. We are both still processing the impact of this life changing week.
The site that I was adjusting did not have any interpretors so I can only share a few things that I saw with my own eyes. I worked with a man that I presumed had Parkinson´s as his arms and legs tremored as he was on the table. He is pictured above in the blue shirt. As I was working with him, a lady from the crowd, who was helping out, started making a comotion. She was pointing to his feet, which were calming down right in front of everyone. By the time he was done, his hands and feet which were dramatically shaking, were STILL.
I adjusted another boy, who was mentally challenged. He had a colostomy bag and all. Two days later, I was given a very poor translation from his mother. She was talking about some heart condition he had for 8 or 9 years, I presume to be a murmer or something. It had stopped since his adjustment.
I had the opportunity to visit an orphanage with Lou and Lydie, the coordinators of the trip. The kids at the orphanage were often born to drug addicted mothers, had terminal illness, and or were malformed. I was adjusting one little girl about the age of 2 that had a shunt, but looked otherwise normal. She was walking around in a circular walker which she did not need, by I presume it was a good baby sitter. A few seconds into our encounter, she leaned over and gave me a precise, angelic peck on the nose. She proceeded to do this 2 more times during the encounter. She was jibber jabbering and smiling during our couple of minutes together. The workers at the orphanage spoke portuguese and she was not old enough to speak. As I was about to finish with her, she very distinctly repeated the phrase, "All better" about seven times. I was absolutely blown away. Right after that, Lydie interpreted from the workers that the little girl had a massive brain tumor. I believe I would have been very devastated at this news, but I was given a gift by this girl with her statement and felt at total peace with this news.
These are only stories of three out of thousands and thousands of people who were adjusted by the AdJustWorld team over the week. The lives of these people were drastically changed in just ONE MOMENT through the POWER OF CHIROPRACTIC! This week offered me a glimpse of what is in store for my career in chiropractic. The body has amazing abilities and chiropractic can help unlock the magic inside all of us. I was relaying a story to an american we met yesterday and he asked, "What kind of adjustment was it?" The answer is, IT WAS A CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT.
Don´t you think you should get adjusted?

Update

We have arrived in safely in Foz do Iguaçu in the Brazilian state of Paraná. We spent last week in Fortaleza, Brazil serving the community through chiropractic. It was an AMAZING experience -- one that is somewhat difficult to put into words because it was an experience that is stored in the heart not so much the mind. We first hand experienced the miraculous power of chiropractic ...

Today we are JUST CHILLING ...tomorrow we will explore the Brazilian side of the Falls of Iguassu and then will visit the Argentinian side> We will be in Chile by Friday.

The beginning of the JaMaura story ...

Jacob created the name "JaMaura" in a PR moment kind of like Beniffer or Brangelina.
Our journey began at Palmer College of Chiropractic. We graduated as doctors of chiropractic on June 13, 2008. Our academic journey at Palmer ended and our new journey is beginning.
I experienced the "summer of I never" in IL, TN, and MN. Some of my "I nevers" include:
  • riding a John Deere mower
  • fishing and catching many types (blue guys, small mouth bass, northern pike, walleye ...)
  • hooking a leech to fish
  • skydiving
  • wild blueberry hunting
  • knee boarding
  • cliff jumping
  • jumping in the IL river

Tommorow (9/3/2008) we depart for an amazing 3.5 month journey through Central and South America. We will update the blog periodically.

Love,
Maura and Jacob
